Chapter 423 (Batam)

First Batam trip!

I didn't understood why people chose Batam as their weekend getaway from Singapore.

But I believe its the low cost and short travelling time that entice them.

I had never went out of Singapore without taking a wheeled luggage and plane.

Thus, packing a 3 days 2 nights necessity into a backpack , taking a ferry out of this country is something totally new to me.

I reminded myself so many times that its a laidback country and I can't expect services to be fast.

But I still failed to be patient with their speed of service. It was way too slow.

Most signs are in Bahasa Indonesian , thus I don't think you could ever get around on your own if you dont speak malay. There isnt any street names along the road either. We travelled everywhere with a driver 

Day 1
We reached Batam at around 1.30pm and checked into our stay

We chose an apartment hotel as we wanted to stay together as a group and Batam has way too limited choices.

The BCC hotel & Residence is located beside BSC shopping mall.

Not the best you can say but it meets the basic needs.

The breakfast spread was not too bad.

Within the room , locks weren't working very well, the ventilation wasn't too good and the towels are too old.  

No high expectations in the first place thus no huge disappointments. 

After settling down , we headed for a massage.
Indosesian massage just wasn't my kind of massage.

Wey Wey Seafood Restaurant had pretty reasonable and savory food
But the stingray that they recommended is totally not worth the value and wait.
It's different from what we usually have and it is just too dry.

KTV session at BSC shopping mall.
Standing mic is just way too cool but the sound system and its song list isnt too great after all.

Day 2
Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Monastery

The roads are so uneven that I got a backache from so much bumping.

It's quite a ride to this place and before you reach here .

You will pass by quite a few more sites.

Monkeys are all along the road , it feels like you are invading their territory as they stare so hard at

your vehicle as you passes by. 

Nagoya hills

I couldn't understand why was this mall so highly recommended by sites and people.

It's probably the most boring place you can ever find in Batam

BSC was so much better than this place.
